True Godly wisdom is found in the pages of God's word, including Proverbs and Psalms.
Wisdom is especially found in the Bible book of Proverbs, which is written, in part, to impart "knowledge and thinking ability." I encourage all desirous of pleasing God and living in peace to consider Proverbs on a daily basis. There are 31 chapters of Proverbs, one for every day of the month. Why not check the day of the month and consider the same chapter of Proverbs? You don't have to read the entire chapter--if you're limited in time, read until you find some gem of wisdom that you can spend a moment contemplating and thinking how to apply it in your daily life and worship of God, truly benefitting from it? If you've never read Proverbs much, it may be best to start by reading through the first 9 chapters, which are written as a letter from a loving father to his son. Take God's counsel to heart, appreciating his discipline. "Discipline" comes from the same root as "disciple." So it does not necessarily involve punishment. Did Jesus go around punishing his disciples, or did he teach and train them? Discipline is training and guidance motivated by love. Punishment by a parent might be included if the lesson is made clear and it is clear to the child that it is motivated by love, not by anger, embarrassment, etc. But let your discipline be known primarily for happy moments of loving training. One ridiculing such discipline will not grow in true wisdom, and needs
urgent help to appreciate God's love and counsel much more.(Prov 13:1)
Being the 13th of September, let's consider a few verses from Proverbs 13.
Proverbs 13:1-3 reads: "A wise son accepts his father’s discipline, But the scoffer does not listen to a rebuke. 2 From the fruitage of his speech a man will eat what is good, But the very desire of the treacherous is for violence. 3 The one guarding his mouth protects his life, But the one opening his lips wide will come to ruin."
Prov 13:2 contains a topic of Jesus. He spoke of bearing fruitage as a Christian, which included simply sharing the hope of the Kingdom message with others, at appropriate times, planting seeds of truth which God may make grow. (John 15:8; 1Corinthians 3:6). Motivated by genuine unselfish love for others, we never know what "will have success" in touching the hearts of "rightly-disposed" ones. (Ecclesiastes 11:6; Acts 13:48). Care should be taken that what is shared is in harmony with "the truth" from God's word. (John 8:32).
Prov 13:3 reminds us that, as stated in Proverbs 10:19, "When words are many, transgression cannot be avoided, But whoever controls his lips acts discreetly." Remember that we have two ears and one mouth, so it's appropriate to listen twice as much as we speak.
