Hello! Let's begin with some steps to wisdom in Proverbs 2:1-6:

"1 My son, if you accept my sayings And treasure up my commandments, 2 By making your ear attentive to wisdom And inclining your heart to discernment; 3 Moreover, if you call out for understanding And raise your voice for discernment; 4 If you keep seeking for it as for silver, And you keep searching for it as for hidden treasures; 5 Then you will understand the fear of Jehovah, And you will find the knowledge of God. 6 For Jehovah himself gives wisdom; From his mouth come knowledge and discernment."

Prov 2:1: Proverbs 30:5 says "Every saying of God is refined." Jesus said in prayer, at John 17:17, "Your word is truth." We can count on God's word the Bible containing powerful, dependable truths. Let's appreciate the 'sayings of God,' and treasure up his commandments. "This is what the love of God means, that we observe His commandments, and yet his commandments are not burdensome." (1John 5:3). God's commandments, now primarily through Christ, are for our protection and benefit, essential to keeping God's standards in our life.

Prov 2:2: Recall we have two ears and one mouth, so we should be good listeners BEFORE being good speakers. A truly wise person continues to humbly listen and learn from others. May our ears be attentive to genuine wisdom from God, and may we seek discernment, the ability to see the difference between right from wrong, good from bad, true from false, wise from unwise, and the more important matters of law from lesser matters, though still required.

Prov 2:3: May we call out for understanding, seeing the big picture, along with all the smaller pieces of knowledge and how they interrelate to one another, coming together to make the whole, seeking God's glory in making use of such knowledge, not our own (John 7:18).

Prov 2:4-6: This quest for genuine godly wisdom should be valued and sought after like hidden treasures, seeking to understand true godly fear and truthful knowledge of God and His law and purposes. Godly fear includes a reverential awe of God and fear of displeasing our loving Father. We should be always appreciating God's gift of life, and the uncountable gifts we experience every day, from the incredible variety of foods, beautiful sights, smells, sounds, etc. that make a wonderful life possible and enjoyable, especially in God's new world of righteousness. It is from God's mouth, more than the worldly wise, that we are to receive knowledge and discernment.

Psalm 43 (Book 2, psalm 2) shows God may be to us our "exceeding joy." Still we may individually feel "despair" and "turmoil," due to oppression from others, for example. Still, we can take matters to Jehovah in prayer, persistently, and "wait for God" to act in our behalf.

Psalm 91, evidently written by Moses, mentions "dwelling in the secret place of the Most High," and lodging "under the shadow of the Almighty." Do you consider Jehovah your stronghold, your place of refuge. Let us pour out our hearts to him daily, as a trusted Friend and God, long to please Him in your thoughts, speech, and actions. Make request of Him for your daily needs, food and spiritual needs, and take note that He alone is the "Hearer of prayer." Appreciate the privilege of having the greatest person in the Universe listen and respond to you.

Psalm 119:9-16 starts out: "How can a young man keep his path clean? By keeping on guard according to your word." The psalmist continues: "With my whole heart I seek you, do not let me stray from your commandments." Let's take to heart especially Jesus' commands, that we may be examples to others as true Christians, exercising faith in Christ and his ransom for forgiveness of any occasional mistake. How vital that we help as many as possible to find the road to life and be encouraged to remain on it, hopefully looking forward to God's new world of righteousness and peace, under God's kingdom through Christ (Matthew 24:14).
