UPDATE 04/26-0658EDT, "CTC 8 years adj." Hello, wishing you a fine, healthy and safe day before God, as we continue considerate of others during this crisis. Let's begin Proverbs 13, with verses 1-5, then move to Deuteronomy 4, verses 37-40, and replay the last TWGA and CTC Corner.
"1 A wise
son accepts his father’s discipline, But the scoffer does not listen to a
rebuke. 2 From the fruitage of his speech a man will eat what is good,
But the very desire of the treacherous is for violence. 3 The one
guarding his mouth protects his life, But the one opening his lips wide
will come to ruin. 4 The lazy person has his cravings, yet he has
nothing, But the diligent one will be fully satisfied. 5 The righteous
one hates lies, But the actions of the wicked bring shame and disgrace."
Prove 13:1: The scoffer, or ridiculer, does not listen to a rebuke, or correction. He is puffed up with his own knowledge and is worshipping himself or anything besides Jehovah, so that he is blind though having eyes, and deaf though having ears. Nor can he utter completely genuine divine truth. (Psalm 115). This is what happens to one practicing idolatry, worshipping anything besides Jehovah. He needs to humble himself, and turn to God to respect and love Him, so that his eyes and ears can open.
"2 From the fruitage of his speech a man will eat what is good,
But the very desire of the treacherous is for violence. 3 The one
guarding his mouth protects his life, But the one opening his lips wide
will come to ruin."
Prove 13:2-3: Remember to think before we speak, we have two ears
and one mouth, as a reminder that we need to listen more than speak. Verse 2 speaks of the "fruitage of his speech." We should think about the effects our speech upon others--is it positive and upbuilding, or is it negative and potentially causing pain or grief unnecessarily? Others will appreciate our speech more if it tends to build up rather than be critical. The associated statement shows our desires are involved, and disloyal treacherous ones desire harm or violence. May our desires always be for what is truly good, kind, and helpful to others wherever possible. We can humbly choose to listen more than speak, so as to avoid 'opening our lips wide' to become boastful of ourselves and overly critical of others, causing spiritual harm.
"4 The lazy person has his cravings, yet he has
nothing, But the diligent one will be fully satisfied."
Prove 13:4: We should exercise foresighted prudence, to see the
consequences of both laziness and diligence. How much better to choose
diligence, experiencing the rewards of using our knowledge to act for
the benefit of others and ourselves. Clearly, we need to work to keep up with things, keep things in good order, and avoid disarray and confusion. Remember, many become lazy being praised for their head-knowledge, rather than for efforts put forth in using their knowledge in a beneficial way for others or even oneself. Let's praise effort and activity in others, used aright, as Jesus declared: “My Father has kept working until now, and I keep working.” (John 5:17).
"5 The righteous
one hates lies, But the actions of the wicked bring shame and disgrace."
Prove 13:5: It may only take one lie to cause great harm, so may
we be among those hating lies, while evildoers receive shame and
disgrace. May their humiliation cause them to humbly turn to God and
seek his favor before its too late. The implications are that such ones do not hate lies as wise-hearted ones do, but rather fall to believing the lie. Some people can tend to believe what they want to believe, rather than believing the truth. It takes courage, sometimes, to accept the truth, and adjust our lives accordingly. May we not cower in fear, and fall to lies, but rather, courageously seek the truth, and correct our steps in the healthy fear and power of Jehovah God, seeking never to displease or hurt Him.

DEUTERONOMY 04G
Last time, we considered Moses' compilation of evidence that Jehovah provided to Israel that they and others might know that He is "the true God." Moses now again re-emphasizes this, explaining why Israel experienced all of this:
“Because he loved your forefathers and has chosen their offspring after them, you were brought out of Egypt in his presence by his great power. 38 From before you he drove away nations greater and mightier than you, to bring you in and give you their land as an inheritance, as it is today. 39 Know, therefore, on this day, and take it to heart that Jehovah is the true God in the heavens above and on the earth beneath. There is no other."
"HE LOVED YOUR FOREFATHERS."
Notice the primary reason: "He loved your forefathers." Genesis outlines, with some detail, the lives of Abraham, also his miraculously born son Isaac (a birth that only Jehovah could have caused, in their old age), and Jacob, becoming known as Israel, and his children, primarily sons, including his beloved son Joseph, who was sold into slavery in Egypt, and eventually became great in power there, to provide provisions during the time of a prolonged famine. These men loved Jehovah greatly, had faith, or deep trust in Him, and demonstrated this by their loyalty and obedience. Jehovah thus came to love them dearly, and made the promises that their offspring would multiply like the stars of the heavens, and the grains of sand on the seashore for multitude. (Genesis 22:17). Also, the chosen seed to restore God's purpose for earth would come through their lineage. The next verse reminds Israel of what all this should move them to do:
"You must keep his [instructions] and his commandments that I am commanding you today, in order that it may go well with you and your sons after you, so that you may long remain in the land that Jehovah your God is giving you.”
SIMILAR LOYAL OBEDIENCE.
Thus their, and our, endless life in peace and happiness is dependent upon Jehovah and our personal loyalty and obedience to Him. Jehovah is "the happy God," and only gives us such loving guidance and instruction out of His great love for us--we show our appreciation to Him, loving Him in return, by heeding such instruction (1Timo 1:11).We should also acknowledge His son, having provided a ransom for man's forgiveness, and setting an example in loyal devotion to God, offering helpful counsel to godly obedience. As 1John 5:3 states: "For this is what the love of God means, that we observe his commandments; and yet his commandments are not burdensome." Thus, God's commands and standards as set forth in His word are realistic, reasonable, reliable, and rewarding. Encouraging deep trust in God, Hebrews 11:6 says "Moreover, without faith it is impossible to please God well, for whoever approaches God must believe that he is and that he becomes the rewarder of those earnestly seeking him." Thus may we come to treasure God's loving instruction leading to our peace and happiness endlessly, strengthening our loyalty and integrity to God--holding true to Him--which involves the training and keeping of an honest conscience before God, trained by His trustworthy word, the Bible.

THRICE WEEKLY GOLDEN APPLES (TWGA)
PROCEED WITH CAUTION:
Regarding the efforts to "reopen the country" while many continue to become infected with COVID-19, we should not turn a blind eye to wise cautions such as the proverb found among the God-given wisdom of the Bible.
Proverbs 22:3 says this: "The shrewd [or, "prudent"] one sees the danger and conceals himself, But the inexperienced [or, "naive"] keep right on going and suffer the consequences."
The caution is this: While respecting guidance from those with proper authority to rule, we must not ignore the facts unless we don't care to risk the safety of ourselves or others. Do research! For instance, are gyms really going to be a safe place, even though ones may maintain "social distancing"? COVID-19 is respiratory, and is there not much heavy breathing when ones are working out in a gym? There may be other factors that are contributing to the relaxing of standards in this case.It may be understandable in areas that have had very little exposure to the virus. But for other areas, how could it be for those not yet exposed, when any one of them could
become exposed and then proceed to unknowingly contaminate the facility?Perhaps gyms there could be intended only for those who have already been exposed and have overcome the virus after an extended period of quarantine, developing resistance, and are clearly no longer contagious. For those not yet exposed, certainly exercising outdoors in the warm sun may be a far safer alternative. It is possible that much careful planning has gone into the reopening of gyms in each specific area. If there are safe and reasonable guidelines being provided, then please use good judgment in this matter. Regardless, please proceed with the utmost of caution, holding to the precautionary guidelines that have allowed this serious pandemic to lessen its grip on much of our nation and our world in recent days.
OUTDOOR GYM?
During this time, certainly it can help at times to think "outside the box." What if there was a way for some gyms to utilize outdoor space, perhaps even a portion of a parking lot, to set up an outdoor gym area, complete with safety mats and exercise equipment, spaced appropriately apart. This could be recommended primarily on dry, sunny days. Outdoors on sunny days there may be much less risk of contamination, although anti-viral wipes/sprays could be still used on equipment between uses. Several precautions may need to be taken to protect equipment from weather events, at least covers on top. Security is needed to guard equipment if left out overnight. Many may be willing to pay a little more for such a safer environment in which to exercise, perhaps half-again the normal cost, or thereabouts. Associated insurance companies may need to be involved to approve such a change of environment, but if done properly, perhaps many would gladly approve. Could indoor restroom facilities still be used, or Johnny Blues provided for both changing and typical functions? Clearly, this should be thoughtfully well-planned and executed to be a success, but it may be an idea worth investigating by those eager to continue their business safely in the current COVID-19 environment. This might be a better environment for exercising in the case of those not yet exposed to the virus. Another suggestion:Perhaps concrete barriers can be placed to prevent accidental vehicular interference.
The very next verse, Proverbs 22:4, says this: "The result of humility and the fear of Jehovah Is riches and glory and life."
Thus may we never become too proud or arrogant, ignoring divine warnings or standards, but rather remain humble before God, fearing to displease Him in any way, and find spiritual riches, honor or esteem from God, and the prospects of endless life before Him.

ISSUE AFTER ISSUE ADDRESSED BY GOD’S KINGDOM: IMMIGRATION
Last week’s conclusion included this thought: Tears of sorrow will all but vanish as we address issue after issue needing attention to be in harmony with GOD’s loving ways and wondrous Word! Let’s look at another issue that needs to be addressed in this nation, the United States, in a reasonable and fair way:
IMMIGRATION
JUSTICE? There is a heavy backlog of cases for those wishing to enter our country properly. In fact, last August, the load of cases reached 1 million, not counting an additional 0.3 million “pending” cases. Most must wait months or years for their cases to complete, and many (not all) cases drag on for nearly two years time! At that time, these cases were evidently being handled by less than 500 judges in the court system. With respect to the president, this may have increased since then, and of course these judges work tirelessly to do what they can, and deserve much commendation. How did God feel about such foreigners in His land of Israel? The people of Israel had become foreign residents in the land of Egypt, before God saved them from slavery there. Likewise many early settlers in the land of the United States had been persecuted religiously in their former land, and were able to escape from such to serve God freely in this land. Thus, in this setting, God told Israel they must view them as He views them:
Deuteronomy 10:18-19 “He executes justice for the fatherless child and the widow and loves the foreign resident, giving him food and clothing. You too must love the foreign resident, for you became foreign residents in the land of Egypt.”
When a case arose involving a foreigner, it was to be handled fairly—impartially, the foreigner was not to be misjudged, but treated as fairly as a native of the land. As Moses had instructed Israel:
Deuteronomy 1:16 “At that time I instructed your judges, ‘When you hear a case between your brothers, you are to judge with righteousness between a man and his brother or a foreign resident.”
How might issues involving immigrants or the increasing migrants at our border looking for a safe refuge be resolved adequately? Supposing God’s Kingdom was to begin rule first in this land, before gradually extending to other lands? How might this potentially grievous situation be handled?
FIRST , the case process needs to be streamlined. It is taking far too long to resolve many cases. The qualifications and standards to be met need to be clarified to all, that they may have all necessary information in order and receive judgment more quickly. Would it not be reasonable for any who wish to apply to enter this country legally to be able to be heard in a matter of weeks at most, and have a resolved case within a week or two afterward? Let’s streamline the process early on, so the cases do not unnecessarily drag out.
NEXT , it will take some time to reduce the caseload. We need additional experienced or qualified judges to handle more cases, to speed up this process. While taking some time, even several years, certain cases may still be earmarked for more urgent attention, as with those in special need of refuge. It really shouldn't take this long, but let’s set a maximum goal of 8 years time to resolve all cases, until most every case can be handled in a matter of 1-2 weeks time. Let’s find all those recently retired judges who are now receiving their due social security payments, who are willing to come back for a time, receiving wages along with their SSI payments, to reach a total of 110% of their former wage before retirement. Any who would come back for 4 years may receive this wage for that entire time. Thus there may be some monetary incentive to returning to help with this caseload, but should still be considered a labor of love. Also, let those judges who are in their last 4 years of service consider as well extending their work for an additional 4 years, at 110% of their wages at the time they would otherwise be retiring. Thus, there can be, with God’s blessing, an adequate number of experienced judges to handle the additional caseload.
THEN , where are they to work, when the normal legal process must take place in the courts during the day? Why not arrange for a night court to handle these additional cases, in the same courtrooms as being used in the daytime? Additional security can be hired and provisions put in place to reasonably handle this new arrangement. The number of additional judges should not exceed the available courtroom space for night-time work.
HOW will all this be paid for? Remember, most of those wishing to immigrate to this land are coming from a place of meager means—often they are barely able to feed their families. Getting even a menial job in this land can be far more lucrative than employment in their former land. Why not require family heads to pay a percentage of their wages over 5 years time, gradually reducing the amount each year, until they are free of such? Let’s start with 10% the first year, then drop to 8% the next, and so on until the fifth year they need only give 2%. This will not only pay for the additional judges and costs of running the night court system, but may also make possible a fund for some sort of social intervention where needed in some cases. This 5-year time is evidently also the minimum time someone must hold a green card before they may qualify to become a U.S. citizen. Thus when they’ve paid their last dues, they know they now meet at least that part of the criteria.
ALSO , during the time that a family’s case comes up to be heard, and is ongoing, why not take this opportunity to educate this family as regards the laws and value system of our country? We might ensure computer/internet access and a series of instructional tutorials etc. to accomplish this. After all, God required foreign residents of Israel to keep the same laws, and suffer the same penalties for violating them. Thus, they will need to learn these things to live in our land, and abide by such. Thus, God instructed Israel:
Deuteronomy 31:12 Gather the people together, the men, the women, the children, and your foreign resident who is within your cities, in order that they may listen and learn about and fear Jehovah your God and take care to carry out all the words of this Law.
CONCLUSION
JUSTICE. While other aspects of immigration also need to be addressed, certainly a program such as this could be a fine starting point for dealing with the current situation. Why, there may even be enough money in the immigration fund to assist with payment of a hotel stay for those having their cases heard in the court. God’s Kingdom will no doubt lovingly address all such issues in an adequate way, that the conditions foretold for the earth can become a reality—a lovely just and peaceful Paradise, both spiritually, and physically!
