2019 Mar Proverbs 30
Wishing you a fine day, welcoming you! Let's continue in Proverbs 30 with verses 20-23:
"20 This is the way of an adulterous woman: She eats, she wipes her mouth; Then she says, “I have done nothing wrong.” 21 There are three things that make the earth shudder And four things it cannot endure: 22 When a slave rules as king, When a fool is glutted with food, 23 When a hated woman is taken as a wife, And when a servant girl takes the place of her mistress."
Prove 30:20 An adulteress woman is largely unaware of the devastating spiritual and usually physical consequences of her behavior. She thus is seriously lacking in understanding, at least as regards true wisdom and spiritual matters, even if very knowledgeable of other things. However, she is aware that what she is doing is wrong in God's eyes, therefore she is morally foolish. For these reasons the proverbs mentions one who is "loud. She is ignorant and knows absolutely nothing." With regards to godly knowledge and insight, she is desperately lacking, otherwise she would be downright opposed to God, so very unappreciative of His divine gifts and His right to guide us in the best use of such. A loyal marriage is truly a divine gift, and one that God looks to bless eternally. An adulteress woman is disregarding such loyalty and faithfulness, perhaps fearing the responsibilities of loving someone in such a faithful and true way, but seemingly unaware of the true happiness that is found by such.
Prove 30:21-23 The "earth" of mankind cannot endure these four things mentioned under inspiration of God:
A slave ruling as king: A genuine king typically has a vast understanding of divine matters, people and relationships, the ways of true peace and happiness, as well as matters of life that will assist him to make exceptional decisions regarding the true needs of his people, to maintain their safety, security, economic stability and general welfare or happiness. Some kings in Israel still took the throne at a young age, Josiah being a mere 8 years old. (2Chro 34:1). Yet he proved to be a faithful, exceptional king, gaining wise understanding in time. 2Chronicles 34:2 says "He did what was right in Jehovah’s eyes and walked in the ways of David his forefather, and he did not deviate to the right or to the left." A slave often has had little need to learn of many such things, although he may have learned obedience by his faithful activity. He is nevertheless yet unsuited to represent God on the throne, and would prove ineffective attempting to do so.
When a fool is glutted with food: A fool may literally overeat, as he tends to ignore divine standards of balance, reasonableness, and modesty. When boldly doing so, he may speak and act proudly, in defiance of what is truly right and good. Such may also be true figuratively, however, with regard to food of the mind or heart. One claiming to be knowledgeable, even helpful, while straying far from divine standards, is a serious corrupting threat to the minds and hearts of others, especially younger or naïve ones. Such ones are hard for a right-hearted people to bear.
When a hated woman is taken as a wife: Such a woman may have gained a reputation for being unkind, disrespectful of others, even hating others, not having learned the compassion, love and respect that makes a marriage the gift that it should be. Love, and not hate, is what makes and should make a marriage what it is. If she grew up without the love of her parents or guardians, perhaps being taught abusive or even violent ways, she may require much tender care and attention before being able to give her husband and any children the affection and gentle care they themselves need. Likewise, hated persons should not largely comprise the body of an organization--otherwise it may prove of little use to the community of mankind.
When a servant girl takes the place of her mistress: A servant girl should ever humbly remain subject to and respectful of her mistress, never allowing sheer, rotten jealousy to take over and cause dissension or contention. Abraham's wife Sarah was quick to complain when she realized Hagar had begun to take a superior attitude, Abraham allowing her to have Hagar dismissed from the household, although she later, at God's direction, returned and again humbled herself under Sarah's hand. What distress is caused when such ones fail to remain humble and appreciative of their blessings! God's word declares "Jealousy is rottenness to the bones" and "wherever there are jealousy and contentiousness, there will also be disorder and every vile [or, evil] thing." Who should have to put up with DISORDER and EVERY EVIL? The tenth commandment states, at Exodus 20:17, "“You must not desire your fellow man’s house. You must not desire your fellow man’s wife nor his slave man nor his slave girl nor his bull nor his donkey nor anything that belongs to your fellow man.”" Yes, one MUST NOT DESIRE...ANYTHING that BELONGS to YOUR FELLOW MAN." Should we get so caught up in minor nuances of law that we ignore the TEN Commandments written on stone tablets for the benefit of all mankind? Let us not think of STEALING, for instance, the eighth command, "You MUST NOT STEAL."
May we be blessed by God for having high regard for His word, law, and requirements for eternal life!
