ARTICLE: WEATHER COMFORT (°C) RATING SYSTEM
Among our consistent topics of conversation, practically every day, most of us will agree is the Weather. Wherever we may dwell, at least temporarily, are we not interested in how the day's weather may affect our comfort and our activities? Knowing what's to come, we may plan to do our bring certain things that will allow us to be more or less comfortable under the circumstances. Might there be a way to more easily comprehend the day's forecast, and how it should affect our preparation or activities?
As it turns out, the Celsius (°C) Temperature scale is excellent for generating a number range for a Feels-Like Weather Comfort Rating for the Day's outdoor activities. I worked on this in nearly Picture Perfect temperatures indoors, primarily in hopes that we might have an improved Feels-Like System that included more than the humidity or wind, in an insightful Format. Here it is in a Chart form, which professionals might use as well for their day planning. For most people, our outdoor weather experiences should fall between 0 and 40 on this scale, with 0 being the "Freezing" temperature of water (32°F), 20 being "Pleasant" conditions, and 40 or more being Extreme Heat.
After reviewing the Chart, let's look at a way to apply this system to daily life in a more useful, practical way!
WEATHER FEELS-LIKE SCALE - COMFORT (°C) RATING CHART
In practice, such as in weather forecasting, the Feels-Like Number could be chosen to most closely reflect a range of temps, +/- 2.5°C. If it's just too close to call between an even 5 rating (20 or 25, for instance), then the rounded up in-between number (either 3 or 8) may be chosen. Thus 23 may be chosen in a close call between 20 and 25.
Also, a Color Guide based logically on the Color Wheel is shown and may prove helpful, with Red indicating serious heat, and Baby Blue conversely serious cold, freezing temps. The references to pink and baby blue for cold temps is intended to remind us of our compassion for young children and even adults, all at risk without proper attire or shelter in such conditions.

SnowPack, Nature - 5.0 (Several inches before plowing; on ski slopes, etc.)
Humidity: 40% Normal. +10%=+3°C, +20%=+7°C, -10%=-1°C, -20%=-3°C
A few other factors have been included in the complete system available to professionals.
It shouldn't take long before a number like 20 or 25 comes to have real meaning as the day progresses. But how do we manage as the time of day progresses and the Feels-Like temperature changes? There is one more aspect to this system that should prove very useful, if it may be put into practice. Why not divide the day up into segments based upon normal human activity? And why not Choose One Feels-Like Number The follow divisions are recommended:
(12pm to 6am) 6am to 11am 11am to 4pm 4pm to 8pm 8pm to 12pm
(Overnight) Morning Hours Mid-Day Hours Early Evening Late Hours
Thus, what if three or four numbers for the day were chosen to represent the three or four times most will be active during the day?
Primarily four numbers would affect nearly everyone the most, starting at 6am.
So a nice spring or summer day might look like:
18 25 23 18
One modification is suggested: What if we reduce a number by 1 if there is a chance of precipitation? Therefore, if rain chances were moving in about 4pm, the above numbers would become:
18 25 22 17
Thus by one glance, we could know whether or not we need that umbrella, or to take other precautions.
Such as system might truly enhance our application of the day's weather forecast, helping us in our day's planning. As we also address both the spiritual and physical environment within which we dwell, may we come to find even greater delight in the marvelous earth that God has lovingly prepared for our habitation, for the delight of His beloved human children, remaining close to Him!
