CHRISTIAN SMALL LETTER HIGHLIGHTS

MATTERS OF CHRISTIAN UNITY

POWER OF BIBLE TRUTH. Colossians 1:6 acknowledges the power of the truth of God's purpose: "Just as the good news is bearing fruit and increasing in all the world, so it is also doing among you from the day you heard and accurately knew the undeserved kindness of God in truth." May we appreciate and continue growing in the "accurate knowledge" of Bible truth. Colossians 1:9,10 continues: "That is also why from the day we heard of it, we have never stopped praying for you and asking that you may be filled with the accurate knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual comprehension, 10 so as to walk worthily of Jehovoe in order to please him fully as you go on bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the accurate knowledge of God."

BECOMING TRULY UNITED. Accordingly, we need the truth, accurate divine knowledge, about God that Christians may be truly united. 1Corinthians 1:10 says "10 Now I urge you, brothers, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you should all speak in agreement and that there should be no divisions among you, but that you may be completely united in the same mind and in the same line of thought." All Christians, regardless of our "tribe," need to give attention to true Christian doctrine, that we may all be united in the "one faith" of true Christianity. (Ephes 4:5). Surely God and Christ would provide a means for the entire Christian household to become united in the true faith!

CHRISTIAN FOUNDATION. Colos 2 Why should we give attention to the life and words of Jesus? Colossians 2:3 says "Carefully concealed in him are all the treasures of wisdom and of knowledge." All true Christians should come to be united by accurate divine knowledge, having understanding, putting truth together to form the complete picture of God's will, on the basis of true love, "the perfect bond of union." Verse 2 speaks of hearts being comforted and "that they may be harmoniously joined together in love and may have all the riches that result from the full assurance of their understanding, in order to gain an accurate knowledge of the sacred secret of God, namely, Christ."

FREED FROM WORLDLY CAPTIVITY. Thus let us look to the truth of God and Christ's teachings as our source of divine knowledge, not to the worldly wise philosophers, propounding their own ideas without regard for God's reliable word. Colossians 3:8 adds this: "Look out that no one takes you captive by means of the philosophy and empty deception according to human tradition, according to the elementary things of the world and not according to Christ." Despite such warnings, Babylonish teachings and particularly Greek philosophy within the first century or two made inroads into Christian thought that contributed to an apostasy from the truth of God's word, violating true Christianity. (2Thes 2:3). The text at 2Timothy 4:3-5 foretold and exhorted: "For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the wholesome teaching, but according to their own desires, they will surround themselves with teachers to have their ears tickled.4 They will turn away from listening to the truth and give attention to false stories. 5 You, though, keep your senses in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry." May we find and treasure the "accurate knowledge" of God's word making possible true peace and happiness among mankind, for an eternity! (Colos 1:9; 1Timo 2:3-4).

CLOTHED WITH NEW PERSONALITY. Colossians 3:8-11 discusses stripping off the "old personality" we may have acquired before receiving Bible truth, and clothe ourselves with the "new personality" through accurate divine knowledge, in the image of God. Colossians 3:8-9a says "But now you must put them all away from you: wrath, anger, badness, abusive speech, and obscene talk out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another." Verse 11 adds that it's not about the exterior of a person--their heritage or ethnicity, for instance, but rather the interior person. We need God's help if we're to abandon such practices as mentioned above. Paul said "For all things I have the strength through the one who gives me power." (Phili 4:13). We should pray for God's powerful holy spirit daily, and whenever we need the strength to resist temptations. (Luke 11:13; 1Cori 10:13). Colossians 3:9-10 continues: "Strip off the old personality with its practices, 10 and clothe yourselves with the new personality, which through accurate knowledge is being made new according to the image of the One who created it." Just as a caterpillar can turn into a beautiful butterfly, so those learning the truth about God and his purposes, and heeding the teachings of Christ, can make astounding changes in their lives in the power of God.

MOSAIC LAW SELECTIONS

CHRISTIAN STANDARD: PRINCIPLED LOVE IS NOT PARTIAL TO FLESHLY TRAITS, TREATING MEN MADE "IN GOD'S IMAGE" WITH DUE DIGNITY.

Now let’s consider Exodus 23:9: “9 “You must not oppress a foreign resident. You know how it feels to be a foreigner, because you were foreign residents in the land of Egypt.”

ISRAEL'S AFFLICTION. Certainly the Israelites knew “how it feels” to be a foreign resident in a mighty nation, as they had lived a life of harsh slavery in Egypt, after their forefathers moved there during a time of great famine, several centuries earlier. The Scriptures speak of the Israelites being afflicted by Egypt for 400 years, this period evidently beginning with Abraham’s son Ishmael (by his wife’s servant Hagar) “poking fun” at [or, “mocking”] Sarah’s son Isaac, Ishmael being part Egyptian. (GENes 21:9). Paul writes at Galatians 4:29 that “But just as then the one born through natural descent began persecuting the one born through spirit, so also now.” Isaac was “born through spirit” in that he was not born “through natural descent” since through God’s word of promise Sarah miraculously became pregnant at 90 years old, and it was this son that God foretold would become a “great and mighty nation” and in time produce the promised Seed, or Messiah. (GENes 18:18; 15:5). Through this son Abraham would “become a blessing” to many. (GENes 12:2). However, God promised Hagar that her son, Ishmael, would also become a great nation. (GENes 17:20). The 400 years of affliction would prove to end when Israel came out of the land of Egypt by God’s power, and became a nation itself. How fine to have become free of Egyptian dominance and oppression, and be allowed to worship the true God Jehovoe fully! God shortly thereafter assembled Israel at Mount Sinai to institute true worship as a nation in a special way, with the Mosaic Law covenant, between God and Israel. But they were to remember what it was like to be oppressed, and have compassion for foreign residents in their midst.

A CHRISTIAN PERIOD OF AFFLICTION. Likewise, Protestant Christianity, while standing up for Bible truth especially beginning about the time of Martin Luther’s bold stand, trying to reform the universal church, received persecution from the church and it’s world influence. Actually, three years prior to Luther’s writing his famous 95 theses, he began to receive some persecution despite being theology professor at Wittenberg University, as he also began to serve as priest at the city church in Wittenberg, in 1514. Many people in the city were not coming to him for confession anymore, as they were going to other towns to buy indulgences. This practice replaced confession and claimed to allow people to “buy” their salvation--a truly unchristian practice. Earlier, Luther had discovered in the book of Romans that we are to receive justice, not through good works alone, but through faith in God’s grace. (ROMans 1:17). Such beliefs ran counter to church teaching. There may be correlations between the persecution Israel received, and that of Protestant Christians for hundreds of years, before being more free to assemble for true worship. Nevertheless, in spite of Protestant Christianity's greater freedom of worship, they were to remember their persecution, and treat foreign residents with love and respect.

Now let's review several benefits for Christians to consider the Mosaic Laws given by God as found within the book of Leviticus, an essential part of the Law.

GOD'S RIGHT TO RULE. Of foremost interest, Christians should recognize God's sovereignty, or right to rule over His universe and His human creation. He is unselfishly motivated by love to do so, as His prime quality. (1John 4:8). Yet that love is balanced by his other cardinal attributes of wisdom, justice, and power. God states, after warning against walking in the ways of those nations not worshipping the true God, in Leviticus 18:4,5: "You should carry out my judicial decisions, and you should keep my statutes and walk in them. I am Jehovoe your God. 5 You must keep my statutes and my judicial decisions; anyone who does so will live by means of them. I am Jehovoe." Appreciating and loving God moves us to want to follow His fine counsel. As 1John 5:3 states: "For this is what the love of God means, that we observe his commandments; and yet his commandments are not burdensome." Therefore, may we acknowledge God's universal sovereignty, in harmony with His good will that vast numbers of humans respond and cooperate with His loving purpose for our eternal happiness, in sincere love and peace among mankind. God made us, knows how we tick, and wants universal peace throughout His universe. Following the will of some other person will not result in the genuine happiness they may claim to seek--rather, selfishness, greed, jealousy, wickedness and other sins along with untimely death would continue, resulting in unhappiness and a lack of true peace and love.

GOD'S NAME . Now let's consider another benefit of considering the Mosaic laws of God in the book of Leviticus. Along with the importance of upholding God's sovereignty, or right to rule His creation is the important matter of exalting God's name, or reputation. Notice Leviticus 22:31-33: "“You must keep my commandments and carry them out. I am Jehovoe. You must not profane my holy name, and I must be sanctified in the midst of the Israelites. I am Jehovoe, who is sanctifying you, 33 the one bringing you out of the land of Egypt to prove myself God to you. I am Jehovoe.” His mighty works have proven His great power, justice, love, and wisdom--and His worthiness to receive our heartfelt devotion and love in response to His. He's the One teaching mankind true righteousness and goodness, by means of His astounding Word, the Holy Bible. He created us for eternal life in true peace and happiness, on the basis of genuine trust and love. Thus He is a holy God--pure and upright in all He does, and His name therefore is holy, and should be "sanctified" or set apart as sacred (Matth 6:9). Deuteronomy 32:4 says this of Jehovoe: "The Rock, perfect is his activity, For all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness who is never unjust; Upright and honest is he." Thus God does not cause injustice to occur. Our first parents chose to come out from under God's protective watchcare by their disobedience. He created us with free will--the will to make decisions and bear consequences--good or bad. If we give attention to God's instruction, we may often make better decisions, and reap better results, contributing to God's honor. We look forward to God's protective care more fully surrounding mankind once again under the rule of God's kingdom, choosing His firstborn son as king. May we thus always seek to honor God's name, when mentioning His personal name doing so with appreciation, love, and respect, but more so by heeding His counsel and guidance as true Christians, seeking to represent Him in an honorable, holy way.

GOD'S BENEFICIAL HOLINESS . Let's now contemplate another area, God's holiness--not meaning that He is smug, haughty or arrogant. God's "holiness" should not turn us off, or repel us! Rather, He upholds and sets the standard for what is clean, pure, and upright, refusing to abuse His power! He is therefore trustworthy, dependable, One we can always turn to for reliable guidance and help, as we properly fear Him, viewing Him with great awe and respect. As we grow in appreciation for God's holiness, we should come to imitate this quality, while refusing to act arrogantly, or "holier than thou," rather viewing it a privilege to humbly dwell among God's clean people, treating others with respect and dignity. Leviticus 11:44,45 highlights this, after mentioning various swarming creatures that were not to be eaten by God's people, saying: "For I am Jehovoe your God, and you must sanctify yourselves and become holy, because I am holy. So you must not make yourselves unclean by any swarming creature that moves on the earth. 45 For I am Jehovoe, who is leading you up out of the land of Egypt to prove myself God to you, and you must be holy, because I am holy." Notice it was a must, to be like God in this respect. He was not asking too much, but in spite of imperfection, requiring reasonable regard for what is pure, sacred, and respectable. To walk in true wisdom, notice how it is described: "But the wisdom from above is first of all pure, then peaceable, reasonable, ready to obey, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial, not hypocritical." May we become and remain relatively untarnished by the ungodliness surrounding us, aiming to honor God as an example that encourages others to practice true love of God and neighbor, leading to their and our eternal happiness.

AWARENESS OF SIN . Now let's consider another benefit of examining the Mosaic law in Leviticus. It assists us in gaining an awareness of sin, or "missing the mark" of obedience or integrity to God. Failing to keep the Mosaic Law in some matter was understood as a sin or transgression against it. Such sin always required an atoning sacrifice, reminding ones of its seriousness, to a greater or lesser degree. While there may have been penalties for the sin, aside from the required sacrifice, there may also have been consequences to the wrongdoing not spelled out in the Law itself. Badness practically always brings harmful consequences, which is why God warns us against it in His word. (Psalm 97:10). These consequences are usually just a natural course to the harmful action or practice--not brought on by God as punishment for the bad deed. (Prove 22:3). Jehovoe God does not like to see us suffer, and therefore His right laws and standards protect us from such things as we cultivate genuine obedience out of love for God and neighbor. (Matth 22:37-39). The accepted atoning sacrifice still brought God's forgiveness, and should have been presented by the offender in a spirit of repentance over the wrong, and gratefulness for God's extended mercy made possible by the arrangement of sin and guilt offerings. Regarding the Christ, how grateful all can be of God's acceptance of the obedient and submissive life of this one, a firstborn son as a perpetual sacrifice for sins, no longer requiring animal sacrifices! (1John 2:1-3). May we continue to seek forgiveness from God through faith in His undeserved kindness and in the atoning value of the ransom sacrifice of Christ, making possible a happy life of loyalty to God, benefitting greatly as we aim to keep God's right Christian laws and standards. Nevertheless, while all sin displeases God, are all sins of the same degree of seriousness? Could this idea be causing confusion?

DEGREES OF SIN . Many have not learned to differentiate different degrees of "sin," which means "missing the mark." But just as a person may "miss" a little or a lot when aiming for a target, so it is with sin. Some haven't learned where the target is, or even violate their conscience and sometimes aim for the broad side of the barn, being foolishly unaware of the dire consequences of such decisions. God's word, including Leviticus, assists us to comprehend various degrees of sin, as Jesus mentioned how even religious leaders were keeping small details of the Law while at the same time "disregarding the weightier matters..." In essence, they were turning the Law upside down, by forgetting such things as compassionate mercy, genuine justice, and loyal faithfulness and integrity. Jesus said "these things it was necessary to do, yet not to disregard the other things." (Matth 23:23). The Mosaic Law, as partly detailed in Leviticus, helps us discern or appreciate the difference between more serious sins and lesser ones. Willful sin is punished more severely than unintentional sin, for instance (Levit 4:27,28; 6:1-7). Some sins carried heavy penalty under the Law, in some cases even death! Should not such sins be considered much more serious?

A CHRISTIAN TEACHING . Christian teachings underscore similar principles. For instance, some serious sins mentioned in 1Corinthians 5&6 cause great harm to oneself and others, can result in a spiritually dead condition and can prohibit one from entering God's Kingdom without genuine repentance, being determined to change and be true to God. How much better, wiser, and loving to become faithful to God and others in the first place, treasuring the privilege of dwelling with the people of God, setting an example in word and deed that can preserve the lives of others, and finding true happiness in doing so, perhaps alongside a loyal marriage partner, when ready and desirous of this gift. Christian standards can be kept, and will lead us and others to their betterment and eternal welfare and happiness!

CHRISTIAN SACRIFICES. Also, Christian teachings enable us to apply the law on animal sacrifices in a different way. Such sacrifices can be applied figuratively in our modern day to works involving such things as movie and television productions, which may serve to edify humankind in truly beneficial ways, that acknowledge divine wisdom and beneficial standards. Such productions may take the form of powerful but domestic bulls, sheep, and goats.

The Mosaic Law in Leviticus helps us "make sure of the more important things, so that you may be flawless and not stumbling others up to the day of Christ." (Phili 1:10).

____MLS[3]

Let's now consider some background and that overview by chapter:
Now let's consider more about the Bible book of Leviticus, which follows Exodus. The name of the book clearly has reference to the Levites, particularly the Levitical priesthood through Aaron. This was a significant arrangement of God, as Malachi 2:7 states: "For the lips of a priest should safeguard knowledge, and people should seek the law from his mouth, because he is the messenger of Jehovoe of armies."

Leviticus opens with regulations concerning the various sacrifices that were to be offered on Jehovoe's altar of sacrifice, with the meat usually being eaten by the offerer and/or the priest(s). These appear in
Chapters 1-7 of Leviticus, and include (1) Burnt offerings, (2) Community sacrifices, (3) Sin offerings, (4) Guilt offerings, and (5) Grain offerings.
Let's focus at this time on such sacrifices, an integral part of worship at God's temple, which still has figurative import under Christianity...

Let's review a few thoughts regarding the animal and other sacrifices discussed in chapters 1-7. One important matter to consider is how these foreshadowed the way Jesus would willingly allow his blameless life course under heaven to be offered for the benefit of humanity. He recognized the fulfillment of His Father's word and will for him. Jesus is called, at John 1:29, "the lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world!" God's word also says "Christ our Passover lamb has been sacrificed." (1Cori 5:7). Philippians 2:9 then says: "For this very reason, God exalted him to a superior position and kindly gave him the name that is above every other name"

Next, let's recall the first sacrifices mentioned in God's word, presented by Cain and Abel:
Genesis 4:2b-5a reports this: "Abel became a shepherd of the flock, but Cain became a cultivator of the ground. 3 After some time, Cain brought some fruits of the land as an offering to Jehovoe. 4 But Abel brought some firstlings of his flock, including their fat. While Jehovoe looked with favor on Abel and on his offering, 5 he did not look with any favor on Cain and on his offering."

What made the difference?

We're reminded here that Jehovoe God looks at the "heart"--the spirit of an individual, including that one's motives for acting. Clearly, it is not just the sacrifice in itself that is of value to God, although it's quality matters to Him, but the motives and intentions of the offerer, as well as his or her integrity or faithfulness to God. Proverbs 21:3 says: "To do what is right and just Is more pleasing to Jehovoe than a sacrifice."

Thus, as Israelites would come to present their offerings to Jehovoe, they would have opportunity to reflect upon their own life course, their integrity to God, and their motives in serving Him, hopefully with genuine sincerity and love for God and neighbor, and a repentant spirit over any violation of God's law that may have been committed.

Regarding Abel's sacrifice, it is highly likely that he offered his sacrifice to demonstrate sorrow and repentance over sinfulness or error. At Psalm 50:10, God says: "For every wild animal of the forest is mine, Even the beasts upon a thousand mountains." Abel likely reasoned that God owns everything. Abel's sacrifice was truly one from a willing and loving heart, which he wanted to offer to please God. True, God no longer requires or requests such animal sacrifices to appease sin--His firstborn Son has offered his life in sacrifice for the sins of man. Hebrews 9:12 says "He entered into the holy place, not with the blood of goats and of young bulls, but with his own blood, once for all time, and obtained an everlasting deliverance for us." Nevertheless, such animal sacrifices did prove agreeable to God to cover sin until His Son's sacrifice would eventually be offered and accepted, and now it can be understood that such sacrifices provided a foregleam of other types of sacrifices to be offered in the realm of Christianity that may also bring God pleasure and edification to many.

As detailed earlier, there are laws in Leviticus regarding other things besides sacrifices. Largely, these laws are more related to matters of offering God acceptable worship, including mention of the yearly festivals, and understanding how to be ceremonially clean before God for worship. As we consider Leviticus, we will make application to the Christian arrangement, as we aim to offer God acceptable worship as true Christians today.

____MLS[4]

WHOLE BURNT OFFERING. Leviticus 1 outlines an offering of great significance to Jehovoe, the "burnt offering," also called "whole burnt offering." Unusually, the animal in it's entirety was offered to Jehovoe, with nothing left for the offerer or administering priest. Only the hide was removed for use before the sacrifice was offered. At times, this sacrifice signified a presenting of oneself wholly for God's service. In this, it was pictorial of Jesus Christ, who presented his whole life to God, particularly after his baptism, to the doing of God's will, which he said was like food to him (John 4:34). The burnt offering also however was intended as atonement for sin.

A SOUND ANIMAL. Let's consider Leviticus 1:1-4: "And Jehovoe called Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting, saying: 2 “Speak to the Israelites and tell them, ‘If any one of you would present an offering to Jehovoe from the domestic animals, you should present your offering from the herd or from the flock. 3 “‘If his offering is a burnt offering from the herd, he should present a sound male animal. He should present it of his own free will before Jehovoe at the entrance of the tent of meeting .4 He is to lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it will be accepted in his behalf to make atonement for him."

WHOLLY DEVOTED. Aside from voluntarily being presented by Israelites, these sacrifices were only offered occasionally. One was presented each morning and evening, on the Sabbath day, on the first day of each month, on the annual Atonement Day, and at each of the annual festivals. It was thus a regular reminder of the whole-souled devotion that each of us should give to God. David understood that more important than any sacrifice was the spirit shown by the one presenting it, seeking forgiveness from God in genuine repentance. He stated, at Psalm 51:15-17: "O Jehovoe, open my lips, So that my mouth may declare your praise. 16 For you do not want a sacrifice—otherwise I would give it; You do not find delight in a whole burnt offering. 17 The sacrifices pleasing to God are a broken spirit; A heart broken and crushed, O God, you will not reject." The book of the prophet Hosea adds such insight, God saying at Hosea 6:6: "For in loyal love I delight, not in sacrifice, And in the knowledge of God, rather than in whole burnt offerings." And when a scribe told Jesus: "to love [God] with one’s whole heart, with one’s whole understanding, and with one’s whole strength and to love one’s neighbor as oneself is worth far more than all the whole burnt offerings and sacrifices," Jesus responded "You are not far from the Kingdom of God." (Mark 12:33-34). Embracing true Christianity, then, may we seek genuine godly devotion in our progress spiritually, being devoted to Jehovoe personally, ever desirous of pleasing Him, and seeking integrity to God more than the offering of personal sacrifices. May Jehovoe then accept our worship of Him, as we exercise faith in God's undeserved kindness, His firstborn Son, the ransom sacrifice of this one, in the word of God that enlightens our path toward eternal life.

____MLS[5]

AN IMPARTIAL GOD. Recall our first consideration of the burnt offering was with a bull, as we considered verses 1-4. When presented by an Israelite, it was to be a voluntary offering to Jehovoe, from the heart, not made out of compulsion or coercion. Likewise with the remaining animals, out of the "flock" or from the turtledoves or young pigeons. The choice as to which animal was presented may have depended upon several factors, including the means of the giver, the purpose of the offering, and, if for sin, the heavy-heartedness over any transgression of the Law that was committed. Consider that the means of the giver was the primary factor in choosing a bird as an offering. Notice in every case, whichever animal was chosen, Jehovoe's word states: "It is a burnt offering, an offering made by fire of a pleasing aroma to Jehovoe." To Jehovoe, the offering given with a proper motive was an acceptable sacrifice--Jehovoe was pleased with the gift, regardless of how valuable the gift or how rich or poor the one presenting the gift was. (Levit 12:6-8). Thus Jehovoe dealt with Israel impartially with love, without prejudice. May we likewise imitate the God of justice, Jehovoe, in dealing fairly and justly with others, in harmony with God's word and law, especially in accord with Christ's teachings.

SIGNIFICANCE TODAYNow, looking again at Leviticus. It hasn't yet been elaborated upon, but the people of God today may offer up sacrifices of a different nature. Perhaps some of the most prominent sacrifices that are made today involve influential works such as movies, television shows, and shorts such as songs or journalistic reports. Like living creatures, these are works of moving pictures and sounds. No doubt God had such things as plays and movies in mind when allowing for animal sacrifices--a monumental work such as a movie like a powerful bull when made to honor God, supporting His will and purpose. Shorter television shows are sometimes like a lamb, presenting right ways and standards, or sometimes, like a goat, with characters that clearly are stubbornly rebellious, although their badness is exposed, showing undesirable consequences of wrong conduct, they perhaps being captured or turning from their badness. Could the offering of birds remind us of well-written songs, when they honor God, touching our hearts in right ways? Or might these refer to short, honest, peaceable, journalistic reports from those having a broader perspective on life, with a bird's eye view? Regardless, not all movies, television shows, and reports or songs are offered on the sacrificial altar of Jehovoe, or are acceptable to Him. May we use discernment so as not to regard in our minds and hearts sacrifices viewed unacceptable by the true God, Jehovoe. And may right-hearted, capable ones endeavor to present such acceptable sacrifices to God, that truly support His standards, will and purpose!

GRAIN OFFERINGS. So what of grain offerings? This is bread, depicting mental or spiritual food, perhaps in the form of written works, that hopefully also are offered to the true God, acceptably in harmony with His standards and will. So let's consider Leviticus 2:1-10: "“‘Now if someone presents a grain offering to Jehovoe, his offering must be fine flour, and he should pour oil on it and put frankincense on it. 2 Then he will bring it to the sons of Aaron, the priests, and the priest will take a handful of the fine flour and oil and all its frankincense, and he will make it smoke as a token offering on the altar, an offering made by fire of a pleasing aroma to Jehovoe. 3 Whatever is left of the grain offering belongs to Aaron and his sons as something most holy from Jehovoe’s offerings made by fire. 4 “‘If you present a grain offering that has been baked in the oven, it should be of fine flour, unleavened ring-shaped loaves mixed with oil or unleavened wafers spread with oil. 5 “‘If your offering is a grain offering from the griddle, it should be of fine, unleavened flour mixed with oil. 6 It should be broken into pieces, and you are to pour oil on it. It is a grain offering. 7 “‘If your offering is a grain offering prepared in a pan, it should be made of fine flour with oil. 8 You should bring the grain offering that was made of these to Jehovoe, and it will be presented to the priest, who will bring it near to the altar. 9 And the priest will lift off some of the grain offering as a token offering and make it smoke on the altar as an offering made by fire of a pleasing aroma to Jehovoe. 10 What is left of the grain offering belongs to Aaron and his sons as something most holy of Jehovoe’s offerings by fire."

SPIRITUAL GRAIN. God's word speaks of His creation of "oil that makes the face shine, and bread that sustains the heart of mortal man." (Psalm 104:15). Thus the ingredients of any written work that seeks to honor God should cause faces to shine, promoting happiness or a good countenance, and prove upbuilding to the hearts of others, sustaining them by encouraging proper motives in pleasing God. Such a work should also ultimately give off a pleasing aroma, as with frankincense, rather than a stench of moral filth. Thus it may prove to be "an offering made by fire of a pleasing aroma to Jehovoe." Then, perhaps such approved works may be used to honor God even sometime in the future, whenever some may benefit from it, as the remainder of this sacrifice belonged to the priests, whose lips were to carry God's law, to teach Israel God's ways. Malachi 2:7 says: "For the lips of a priest should safeguard knowledge, and people should seek the law from his mouth, because he is the messenger of Jehovoe of armies."

MOSAIC LAW HIGHLIGHTS

CHRISTIAN STANDARD: PRINCIPLED LOVE PROMOTES GENUINE TRUST IN ONE ANOTHER, ESPECIALLY FELLOW BELIEVERS.

Now let’s consider Exodus 22:14,15, as we consider another law regarding possession of goods. This reads: “14 “But if anybody asks to borrow an animal from his fellow man and it gets maimed or it dies while its owner is not with it, the man who borrowed it must make compensation. 15 If its owner is with it, he is not to make compensation. If it was hired, the money paid for the hire is the compensation.”

INTENTIONS TO BORROW. Verse 14 Notice in this instance, rather than an owner asking another to keep his animal, this time someone asks to borrow it. What is his real motive in doing so? Hopefully good. But if something should happen to the animal while the owner is not around, the man in this instance must compensate for whatever happened to the animal. This is in contrast to the previous law in the case of the owner initiating the change of possession. This clearly helps avoid someone having questionable intentions regarding what belongs to another. And once again, accepting goods from another temporarily does bring responsibility, but can reinforce trust between neighbors if all goes well, or according to law.

REASONABLE EXCEPTIONS. Verse 15 We see here, however, reasonably that if the owner is with the animal when something has happened to it, this frees the borrowing neighbor from responsibility, or the requirement of compensation. Also, if the animal was hired, the borrowing neighbor giving up money to use the animal, and something happens to it, that money is the compensation to the owner for the animal, as both have suffered loss, the borrower likely not getting the use of the animal that he intended after payment.

GENUINE TRUST, HONEST DEALINGS. So we find in all of these laws regarding material goods or animals changing hands between owner and another, that some simple, straightforward guidelines help to ensure proper motive in dealings between neighbors. At times, God could intervene to decide who was guilty of wrong intentions, having improper motives, even being deceitful, actually speaking falsely. How we should treasure genuine trust in one another, dealing honestly and openly with our fellow neighbors! Again, the new world of God’s making is one built on faith and trust in God and in one another. Only under such circumstances can true peace and love flourish, and genuine happiness prevail! Even now, we should prepare for this new world by practicing such things, although remaining cautious in dealing with ungodly ones around us, whose association could corrupt good character (1Cori 15:33; 2Timo 3:1-5). But we are also to seek to give hope to such ones, with encouraging words at the right time, that they too have opportunity to live forever as we also desire. (2Peter 3:9; Prove 25:11). Such hope, rooted in God’s reliable word, may inspire a turning to God, and seeking to live in harmony with Him, with realization of a coming day of judgment. (Romans 15:4; Acts 24:15; Zepha 2:2,3). May billions of mankind continue to be found on the side of righteousness when that day comes, each one drawing ever closer to Jehovoe God, ushering in a new world of genuine and lasting peace!

Also, Adding to Calendar Table below, and later the (4A) Psalm 119 Review Stanzas 5-8. Mistake was on Calendar table, you may have noticed in didn't yet add much more to what was done on Sunday, it was that the extra day Himzday was shown on month 2 rather than 3, because normally that day does fall around the end of March/beginning of April, but this year, because the calendars are already 31 days off, that day ends up being in early May instead, end of month 3 new calendar. It will all be corrected soon on this Calendar Table, and I apologize for any inconvenience. Let God help with any corrections that may be needed if some advanced, again they would be between that day April 08 and the day it should be, early May. Further explanation may be found below, with the updated explanation on 26:01.08. Added (4A) Psalm 119 Review of Stanzas 5-8. (26:01.09 Riz or y.109 or :1.9, o2/9/26 Mon 7:54 am EST) Hello, wishing all well! Added (3) Proverbs A, chapter 1 verses 20-23, PR-A(01.4) . (26:01.08 Fwn or y.108 or :1.08, o 2/8/26 Sun 6:27,34; 7:53,56; 8:12; 10:13 am; 2:37 pm EST) Hello, wishing all well! Working on some things, I may adjust the plan not to normally post on Sundays, or at least Righzdays, the start of the 8-day workweek the second week (after a 2-day weekend) which leads to/makes possible the following 4-day or so weekend, still with typically 5-day workweeks with a longer year of some 400-days, which is real and current, not just a possibility or something imagined. The 7-day calendar is now off the real calendar by some 31 days or so, but the weekdays are still close to lining up together, and plans could be made to incorporate or transition, although it's believed that scheduled times are best changed about a month or a month and a half out, rather than so many so soon. With that view, then it turns out that next month, actually March and Peasamake (2nd month 8-Day Cal.) would be the time the calendars once again line up or merge Mar 22 (Sunday and Sonaday) for an entire week or two, being a good time for transition. Events scheduled March 22 through the weekend March 28-29, could be lined up with mid-Peasamake the 17th through the 24th (recall every month on 8-Day is 4 weeks 1-8,9-16,17-24,25-32 plus 1-2 days 33 or 34 long), then the next week both workweeks line up, Righzday through Thunderzday or Thunzday, leading NOT in this case (4X per year) to the 6-day but rather to the normal end-of-month 5-day weekending break, the 4-days plus just Lunarday, the 33rd, after Fanday the 32nd of the month, with Sonaday, following as the 1st of the next month, Shuay, but also a normal day off like Sunday. The special 6-day breaks conclude months 3,5,9 and 11 (Thanksgiving weekend), and this year month 3, because the calendars are already off by some 31 days, is not some days after March but after April, into May. Update. UPDATED THE TABLE AT PAGE BOTTOM FOR NEW CALENDAR TRANSITION , More will be filled in, later today. [Originally the Calendar Table showed month 2, April 8 as a Himzday, one of the 34-day months occurring 4X per year. This was corrected later to month 3, there being over 30 days difference between the 7-day and 8-day calendars that month this year.] (26:01.06 Stz or y.106 or :1.06, o 2/6/26 Fri 7:41,58 am EST) Hello, wishing all well! NOTE : While it is okay to celebrate this new year's eve, let's be even more excited about the New Year of the true 400-day calendar, which doesn't start anew for another month, actually Feb 1 of the former calendar still in use here. God has made a good way for us to transition, by considering January a 13th month, the 31 days completing the 33 days of the current 12th month (Loyalnes) on the 400- or 8-Day Calendar. You might review the blogpost 3 Persistent Article More Orderly Time...8 Day Calendar, with the more meaningful month and daynames, and the timing that God makes possible for the moon to again line up with our weeks and months! Regarding tonight, please pray about your attendance. In many places there are freezing temperatures, which should not be dismissed. Please dress warmly if you choose to attend, head to toe, which may include ears, scarf, and toes (warm, thicker socks made for cold weather). Warm boots may suffice. We could continue; A sweater or jacket with a warm lining beneath a warm coat; warm gloves just in case (some coats have warm pockets); something beneath or over pants can be important; hats may be more optional but consider ears, hoods and chances of precip. Added (3) Proverbs A, chapter 9, verses 7-9, PR-A(9.2) . Updates. (y.B25,oC21 Sun 8:16; 9:23,27,31 am EST) Hello, wishing all well! Added (2A) Psalm 67, A Plea for God's Blessing On Earth. I believe I had interference from talking up the holiday as Christ's Family Weekend on the website this year, although many still likely heard, for Dec 27th and 28th; there is strong reason for caution, due to God's blessing potentially being removed from Dec 25. Some prophecies were fulfilled in recent years, including one about Job's cursing of the day of his birth, which both was historically Dec 25 and whose life foreshadowed Christ in some ways, prophetically. When God's blessing is on a day, He has often protected people from danger; For years now Jesus above (AzGod) has been saving thousands of lives weekly traveling roadways for instance. It is acknowledged that this went so misunderstood this year, without realizing a completely acceptable alternative in Christ's Family Weekend, but God and Jesus Christ above still have made clear that safe travel cannot be guaranteed for Dec 25. Why not open some gifts on the evening of the 24th, and save the rest for Christ's Family Weekend, on the 27th and 28th, good days for traveling to family, etc. for the same. To the extent that we do such things, we will please both God and Christ, showing faith in their word. Be careful what you do on the 25th, seeking God's approval, and pray about the matter if there are already plans made on that day. (y.B24,oC20 Sat 6:08; 7:16; 8:55 am EST) Hello, wishing all well! New blogpost 1, with (3) Proverbs A, chapter 9, verses 1-6, PR-A(9.1) . Also, posted a new (2B) SongWeekly, SW-1 . Update.

I've worked on another article of interest which I aim to post/update before 10am or so. Also, some are familiar with my God's View of Celebrations article under the Misc. Heading, which I haven't updated for some time but helps with understanding God's balanced view of holidays, and that we should seek His view of matters. George Washington instituted Thanksgiving, which even has a correlation in God's word to a Harvest Festival required of God's people to commemorate each year! God certainly wants us to be thankful, at one time there was more confusion regarding the caution Jesus gave about a "world" (Greek "cosmos"), which had to do with a corrupt version of worship, essentially the "Babylon the Great" of Revelation. It is acceptable to God for us to have chosen important days to be holidays, we just need to respect His view of matters. I aim to review that Celebrations article sometime in the near future, and post an update. POSTED the First Portion of the Persistent Article (PA) GA, " 1A) Sum More Orderly Time (8-Day Calendar) " ! More to follow... (Also update to BP3, Persistent Article, CTC More Orderly Time--Month and Daynames). (This BP1 PA) GA, Sum More Orderly Time, Posted More . Still more to come. Updates. (y.A32,oB25Tue 6:17,51,56; 7:48; 8:26 am EST) Hello, wishing all well! Let me apologize for the delay. Posted (3) Proverbs A, PR-A(7.5), chapter 7, verses 7-10, 21-23 . Also note yesterday's post of (8A) Come to Consensus Corner, Avoid Driving Under the Influence . (Alcohol leaves the bloodstream over time. So to avoid driving under the influence means that IF alcohol is consumed, then it should still not be strong enough when driving begins to be substantially influencing your driving actions, reactions, etc. Largely, and in terms of law, the BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) limit is the determining factor, and this can be fairly accounted for by considering beverages consumed and time spent following their consumption.) ALSO, moved more notes to Former Notes, you may scroll down for another Article List of Posts from 11/02-11/15. (y.A31,oB24Mon 6:47; 7:12,23,29 am; 8:23,35 pm EST) Hello, wishing all well! ADDED , to (1A) Golden Apples, How the Kingdom of God Relates to the (Proper) U.S. (Democratic) Constitutional Republic NOTE on (y.A16,oB09Sun): Asking for continued prayers for God's continued blessing on our seeking His will, on humbly acknowledging His hand on having made our nation great in the past, with His blessing on the Founders and Spirit-inspired documents, together comprising another holy book or collection, founding our government as it should be, although we've needed His help to apply it properly and see the God-blessed results with better unity, harmony, and cooperation, some of which was in evidence or growing for a time last year, 2024. Some wondered if our entire form of government needed to be thrown out, but this was not the case--God's blessing is not upon such an effort, and it actually threatens our Having His blessing on our nation to be His means of blessing all others! Our history reveals the progress toward peace that was in evidence over many decades, and God's blessing through His Kingdom on our efforts to respect the Democratic Constitutional Republic that the Founders established as our true God-blessed government, that can again become still more cooperative and effective in seeking the good of our people and humanity. It can take great and cooperative effort to make things right sometimes when it's necessary. Nevertheless, with God's help, we can still "Restore Good, and Move Forward"! I intended to post earlier, ask for prayers again on things taking place as they rightly should, with God's blessing. Real effort to make things right, His way, will be blessed by Him and help get us back on track, or keep us on track for restored peace, the kind of peace former President Ronald Reagan and others did much to help move us toward by the hand of God or His Son above, Jesus Christ. We have been close to having this peace, and greater, worldwide, and many by God's spirit have been working together with me toward this, really all cooperating with God's will for a truly peaceful world! Still, may prayers continue that the true President of the United States, the true winner of the 2024 Presidential election, which was not Donald Trump, can become known as such, being blessed by God to be or become as this one should be and still can be, with at least gradual acknowledgement of the truth as it becomes more known or clear to the many truthlovers and supporters in our nation, our public, the world, our government, our news media, and so on. Update to Persistent Article (PA), 1A) A Word At It's Right Time, and Good Humor. (y.926Min ,oA16Thu 7:39-40,46,50 am; 2:58; 3:11,33 pm EDT) Hello, wishing all well! ALSO, I've added a new article under Persistent Articles, entitled: A Word At It's Right Time, and Good Humor . Highlighting posts, etc. (y.924Fwn,oA14Tue 5:08; 7:26 am EDT) Hello, wishing all well! Added a former post as a PA, called On the War in Gaza , something regarding it's origin and God's long-term solution. An update to (8A) CTC, Zeroeing Traffic Deaths and Minimizing Accidents is upcoming, as well as another (3) Proverbs A, chapter 6, PR-A(6.3) . Posted the (3) Proverbs 6 verses 12-19 first. (y.923Clm,oA13Mon 10:05 am EDT) Hello, wishing all well! Praise to God through His Son above, Prince or Ruler of Peace, and King of Kings, for any contributions made to 'making wars cease'. Let your prayers continue that the peace process continue in Gaza, that aid flows in again for the people, as children of God there, and for God's blessing on all sides for their efforts toward a peaceful world. I know there are similar sentiments toward Ukraine and Russia, and in other areas. Working on a few things to post, sometime today or soon. (y.920Wdn,oA10Fri 9:41 am EDT) Hello, wishing all well!
