CHRISTIAN SMALL LETTER SELECTION
Galatians 1-2
SOME INTRODUCTORY REMARKS TO THE CHRISTIAN COURSE
GENUINE GOOD NEWS. Of course, such "Introductory remarks" should come with some fair idea of what true Christianity involves. Some have been mistaken regarding what God's word teaches about Christianity. Most are aware of the role of Christ and the ransom sacrifice for true forgiveness of sin, or violation of right conduct, which violations usually hinder in some way the loving and peaceable way that God has made possible real enjoyment of a paradisaic life. Still, it is possible to misinterpret God's law and standards to some extent, and for some mistaken views to be taught. God wants us to acquire good judgement or thinking ability, so as to make good decisions regarding what His law/lall really teaches or requires, in line with Christian understanding clarified in God's word. This Christ has taught against putting up hedges about God's law/lall, that we should "not go beyond the things that are written," which sometimes cause some to think God's law/lall is less reasonable than it really is. We should nevertheless be aiming for the target of God's standards, which bring heartfelt joy! We can truly find our happiness and satisfaction within God's word and law/lall, not without it!
CHERISH THE "GOOD NEWS," GUARD ASSOCIATION. Galatians 1:6-8 encourages caution regarding our association. These verses show the Scriptures are what we should hold to regarding our faith, our trust and our belief system, not being persuaded by unrighteous ones: "I am amazed that you are so quickly turning away from the One who called you with Christ’s undeserved kindness to another sort of good news. 7 Not that there is another good news; but there are certain ones who are causing you trouble and wanting to distort the good news about the Christ. 8 However, even if we or an angel out of heaven were to declare to you as good news something beyond the good news we declared to you, let him be accursed." May we continue to grow in our understanding of God's word of truth, trusting and clinging to God as our refuge in a world still promoting unrighteousness.
ADHERE TO WHAT IS PURE, ACQUIRE DISCERNMENT. Galatians 2:16 contains the inspired words of the apostle Paul, who said "that a man is declared upright, not by works of law, but only through faith in Jehosha/Jesus Christ." Genuine faith or thankful trust in Christ and the ransom sacrifice, to allow true forgiveness for sins, can move all out of appreciation to please God fully. Such faith and love for God and Christ move persons to be obedient from the heart to their commands, but such obedience cannot "earn" salvation--everlasting life is a gift from a loving God (Romans 6:23). "The love of God means that we observe His commandments, but His commandments are not burdensome." (1John 5:3). However, we must not think that obedience to one command will compensate for our disobedience to another. We must strive never to violate what is holy, acting disobediently (James 2:10-13). At the same time, not everyone is in the same circumstances, so we should not be quick to judge others. Still, some practices are so seriously wrong they could bar us from God's Kingdom, yet God understands the causes of wrongdoing and judges accordingly. We should all be familiar especially with the most serious of God's requirements but certainly also His merciful care for all, and pray for His help to live right before Him. (1Cori 6:9-11; James 1:5). We should acquire discernment to see the difference between the more important matters of law, and lesser matters, though still required. In the healthy awe of God, we should seek to hate all badness, while loving what is good, with foresighted prudence to see the consequences of both good and bad, and acting accordingly. (Psalm 97:10; Prove 22:3) This faith, or thankful trust, in God and Christ can thus grow with divine knowledge, as we consider God's word regularly. (Matth 4:4).
PRESS FORWARD IN SERVING GOD. Galatians 2:17-18 encourages us as ones turning to the real truth of God, not to turn back to things we've left behind. The apostle Paul set an example in this regard, having been raised as a Pharisee with great prominence in Judaism, with prospects of easily being well-off materially and otherwise. However, upon learning the truth about Christ, he left a life of falsehood behind to pursue God's favor and the reward of eternal life promised by Him for one's faithful and loving course. (James 1:12). We do not necessarily need to drop everything for the genuine truth of God, but we should take a fresh look at our life and adjust or do away with anything detracting us from serving God faithfully. Paul referred to the "excelling value of the knowledge of Christ Jesus/Jehosha my Lord," and considered his past pursuits as "a lot of refuse (or, garbage)," that he may gain Christ. (Phili 3:8). True worship of Jehovoe through Christ opens our eyes to the truth, and as we grow in divine wisdom, we are better able to assess what is truly important in life and adjust our life accordingly. (Phili 1:10). We should turn to God in prayer before making any rash decisions, however. Look to God for guidance and direction, as we 'let our reasonableness become known to all men.' (Phili 4:5). God will nevertheless bless us for any sacrifice we make for the sake of His name and purpose, that enables us to move forward in serving God, and not turn back to a sinful course in life. Galatians 2:17-18 reads this way: "Now if we have also been found sinners while seeking to be declared worthy by means of Christ, is Christ then sin’s minister? Certainly not! 18 If the very things that I once tore down I build up again, I demonstrate that I am a transgressor." Paul added in verse 20: "Indeed, the life that I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and handed himself over for me." May we appreciate the loving, selfless spirit this Christ displayed during an earthly life course, having risen with godly authority, seeking the everlasting happiness of all willing humans, as described in the Holy Scriptures, and seek to follow this example. (1Peter 2:21).

CHRISTIAN SMALL LETTER HIGHLIGHTS:
FURTHER CAUTIONS FOR CHRISTIANS
WHO HINDERED YOU? Galatians 5:7-10 reveals how easy it could be for one to persuade us away from the truth, if we're not careful. This was happening to the Galatians, as the apostle Paul reveals in these verses: "7 You were running well. Who hindered you from continuing to obey the truth? 8 This sort of persuasion does not come from the One calling you. 9 A little leaven ferments the whole batch of dough. 10 I am confident that you who are in union with the Lord will not come to think otherwise; but the one who is causing you trouble, whoever he may be, will receive the judgement he deserves." We must be careful to uphold the truth of God, again, letting God's word always trump the ideas of man (ROMans 3:4). Be alert to the misleading use of lies and half-truths, and other speech designed to confuse others for selfish purposes, be they for wealth or power, for material or other gain. May any such troublemakers repent of their errors, while God may show them mercy. (ISAiah 55:6-7).
DOING YOUR BEST. Galatians 6:4,7,8 highlight some important concepts for finding genuine peace in life and being protected from spiritual harm and corruption. Verse 4 highlights the value of avoiding an unhealthy competitive spirit, comparing ourselves with others, often causing either excessive pride on the one hand, or self-defeating discouragement on the other. Such a spirit works against true love. How much better to focus on your own work, seeking to continually improve by the week, month and year! Verse 4 puts it this way: "But let each one examine his own actions, and then he will have cause for rejoicing in regard to himself alone, and not in comparison with the other person." By doing this, we can avoid harmful jealousy, with its detrimental effects on relationships.
MAKING SPIRITUAL MATTERS PRIMARY. Verses 7,8 provide a further important caution against spiritual harm, realizing however that God says this to protect us from danger: "Do not be misled: God is not one to be mocked. For whatever a person is sowing, this he will also reap; 8 because the one sowing with a view to his flesh will reap corruption from his flesh, but the one sowing with a view to the spirit will reap everlasting life from the spirit." If we sow poison ivy, we will not reap grapes, will we? We should sow with a view to spiritual things, seeking God's pleasure as we live in harmony with His will. He wants us to enjoy life, we just need to do so in harmony with His standards, which promote true happiness. Seeking pleasures without regard for God results in troubles, pain, and grief in the end. Doing things God's way leads to eternal blessings, even with a loyal marriage partner. We need to see things from God's standpoint, as His word enlightens us and brings us true wisdom. Regarding this, His word says "All other desirable things cannot compare to it." Godly wisdom brings delight as we practice it, and brings greater purpose and joy to the other pleasures in life, given by God, the giver of every good gift and perfect present. (JAMes 1:17).

RIGHT VIEWS TOWARD ENGAGEMENT AND MARRIAGE
HIGH REGARD FOR GIFT OF MARRIAGE. 1Thessalonians 4:3-8 emphasizes high regard for the marriage bond. Encouragement is given to practice vital self-control, especially in sexual matters, knowing how to control one's body "in holiness and honor." We must wait on Jehovoe to help us find a suitable marriage partner to engage with, when we're of age and have some sense of the responsibilities that come with marriage--see the reference to "engagement" below. Rushing ahead of Jehovoe into the grave sin of "sexual immorality," not only puts one's own everlasting life with a loyal marriage partner at risk, but the other person's as well--is that true love? Or, rather, contrary selfishness? God's word helps us immensely to learn what pure unselfish Christian love is all about, teaching us to let such love for God and others be the motive as we understand and apply true wisdom in life. Living by God's standards, according to His righteousness, provides the framework for a happy and successful life and family, now and endlessly. Now, the true meaning of "engagement" as God purposed it is becoming more understood, as it involves two responsibly nearing the age of marriage looking for a good and beautiful marriage with someone they believe in, beginning a period that may well lead to marriage but however is not marriage itself--but a time that is to be considered as a long-distance relationship, that allows for getting to know one another well, gaining in good communication, helping one another through ups and downs, expressing, though without direct contact, intimacy from a distance (an arrangement of God) that is, being truly engaged, without violation and risks of direct contact before marriage, and other ways to express the love and respect for one another upon which a good marriage and family is built. The verses of 1Thes. read this way: "3 For this is the will of God, that you should be holy and abstain from sexual immorality. 4 Each one of you should know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, 5 not with greedy, uncontrolled sexual passion like the nations have that do not know God. 6 No one should go beyond proper limits and take advantage of his brother in this matter, because Jehovoe exacts punishment for all these things, just as we told you previously and also strongly warned you. 7 For God has called us, not for uncleanness, but for holiness. 8 So, then, the man who disregards this is disregarding, not man, but God, who gives you his holy spirit."

CHRISTIAN SMALL LETTER SELECTIONS
AMONG THE "MORE IMPORTANT THINGS":
PROTECTING PEACE, PURITY, REJECTING BADNESS
VITAL QUALITIES FOR TRUE PEACE. Ephesians 4 contains much to contemplate, beginning with encouragement to "walk worthily of the calling with which you were called, 2 with all humility and mildness, with patience [or, loyalty], putting up with one another in love, 3 earnestly endeavoring to maintain the oneness of the spirit in the uniting bond of peace." These qualities are vital to preserving the peaceful, loving spirit of the congregation of God. We need to have a humble view in dealing with one another, 'considering others superior to us,' refusing contentiousness or a fighting spirit with others whom we should be loving, doing nothing out of egotism, or arrogance, appreciating the good in others, most having qualities we could improve in. (Philippians 2:3). We should also deal with one another with a gentle, mild manner, sensitive to their feelings. Loyalty should also be shown, as we remain first and foremost loyal to God, showing loyalty to others by helping them become loyal to God themselves. Being peaceable, or a peacemaker, on the basis of love, seeking to forgive others freely, seeking peace especially with fellow Christians, is also vital to maintaining our Christian unity. Ephesians 4:25-26 (NIV) says "Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body. 'In your anger do not sin.' Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry"--thus try to be quick to restore peace, especially with fellow believers. And Romans 12:18 says "If possible, as far as it depends on you, be peaceable with all men." May we strive after such qualities and enjoy the blessings associated with such obedience to God.
TREASURE PURITY OF HEART, USE CLEAN SPEECH. Ephesians 5:3 offers this encouragement regarding our choice of speech: "Let immorality and every sort of uncleanness or greediness not even be mentioned among you, just as is proper for holy people." By what we talk about, we can influence others, for good, or for bad. Continue giving consideration to God's word, the wisdom of Proverbs and Christ's teachings, including the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7, to comprehend the value of God's standards, that we may come to love what is right, and hate all badness, which has a negative effect on humanity, carrying on selfishness and other sin. May we grow in love for God for his abundant goodness toward humans, knowing what we all need to be truly happy and to live in peace amidst one another.
REJECT IMMORALITY, GREEDINESS. Ephesians 5 reminds us, in verse 5, that we should not allow emotions from music or wrong thinking from TV shows or movies to affect our view of marriage or hinder true unselfish love in our hearts and obedience to the GOD who IS LOVE (1John 4:8). Verse 5 says: "For you know this, recognizing it for yourselves, that no immoral person or unclean person or greedy person, which means being an idolater, has any inheritance in the Kingdom of the Christ and of God." Look to God to help you prepare for marriage and find a good partner, if you don't already have one! Recall that true engagement in God's eyes allows for certain intimacies to be expressed from a distance--in a long-distance relationship--looking forward to a beautiful marriage. Determine where you're at in any such relationship, and anything needing correction to advance or remain close to God and each other as appropriate--Seek God's help in prayer, receiving His guidance. Let's work to protect, or safeguard, the lives and good spirit of others. Rescue the upright, as Proverbs 11:9 states: "By his mouth the apostate brings his neighbor to ruin, But by knowledge the upright are rescued." May we lovingly uphold God's standards in life, treating others with respect, doing what contributes to their eternal happiness, God's way!

O' Lord,
by Lauren Daigle
How about this one, as with God's blessing, we aim to always uphold what God purposed for this nation, and the rest of the world? This is not intended to look at where we are right now, but rather, to recall where we have been at times, honoring God, and where can and should be, restoring such honor and recognizing what our founders intended, a nation blessed by God, looking to Him and His Son in service to mankind for true prosperity. Let's rightly praise God for His power and love, recalling what He did to set this nation on a good course, and be inspired always to uphold His standards to become and remain as a nation blessed by Him.
America the Beautiful,
played by Robin Spielberg, album: Sea to Shining Sea: A Tapestry of American Music
Another song, perhaps fills out the intention of the one above, as I seek to honor God and be in position to fulfill what God has purposed for me and all of us, many working together.
Anticipation,
