Nov 25 Psalms James 5

Hello to all, and warm wishes. Let's begin in Psalms this time, looking at the 25th psalms of both books 1 and 2. Psalm 25 is an acrostic, meaning each successive verse begins with the next letter of the Hebrew alphabet, 22 in all. Let's start with Psalm 25:1-5:
"To you, O Jehovah, I turn.ב [Beth]2 My God, I trust in you; Do not let me be put to shame. Do not let my enemies gloat over me. ג [Gimel] 3 Surely none who hope in you will be put to shame, But shame awaits those who are treacherous without cause. ד [Daleth]4 Make me know your ways, O Jehovah; Teach me your paths. ה [He]5 Cause me to walk in your truth and teach me, For you are my God of salvation. ו [Waw]In you I hope all day long."

Psalm 25:1 May we always turn to Jehovah, in good times and bad, with thankfulness and humbly seeking His guidance.
Psalm 25:2 Proverbs 3:5,6 says "Trust in Jehovah with all your heart, And do not rely on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways take notice of him, And he will make your paths straight." May we trust God completely, thankful for His loving assistance and intervention in our lives.
Psalm 25:3 Seeking God's honor above our own helps us to serve Him faithfully, and with our obedience, He in the long-term protects our relationships with Him and others. Treacherous [Devious and disloyal] will not be protected from shame and disgrace.
Psalm 25:4 May we plead to Jehovah to know His ways, to live by them.
Psalm 25:5 May we hope in Jehovah and have His help to keep His way. Thus we may receive of His blessings, and eternal life.

Psalm 66 (Book 2, 25th psalm) Psalm 66:1-4 reads: "Shout in triumph to God, all the earth. 2 Sing praises to his glorious name. Make his praise glorious. 3 Say to God: “How awe-inspiring your works are! Because of your great power, Your enemies will cringe before you. 4 All the earth will bow down to you; They will sing praises to you; They will sing praises to your name.” May we seek to honor our great God, Jehovah, and appreciate His wonderful works toward mankind, even personally in our lives as we look to Him for aid, to do what is pleasing to Him. He will thus prove to be a refuge and a support to us.

James 5:10,11 says "Brothers, take as a pattern of the suffering of evil and the exercising of patience the prophets who spoke in the name of Jehovah. 11 Look! We consider happy those who have endured. You have heard of the endurance of Job and have seen the outcome Jehovah gave, that Jehovah is very tender in affection and merciful."
Thus we may have to suffer evil at times, enduring hurtful speech from unkind or disobedient ones, but if we maintain self-control, our mild gentle responses may quiet such things, and be blessed by God. We want to maintain love in our hearts, for God and all others. May we endure our trials faithfully, trusting in God's favor and the joy set before us.
